Common Questions

Q: Do I really need my CatCard to access the facilities?
A: YES!

Q: What documentation will I need to purchase a membership, yoga/fitness/faculty staff pass, non-credit instruction or other programs?
A: Documentation Required: Student--Cat Card, Faculty/Staff--Cat Card Alumni--Alumni card and a picture ID, Retiree--a picture ID. University Affiliate employee--see 6.0, or call the Business/Membership office at 626-3396.

Q: Where is the Business/Membership office?
A: Located in the Student Recreation Center on 6th and Highland, located on the second floor. Hours: Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
Closed all holidays that are recognized by the Uof A.

Q: Where do I go to sign up/pay for membership, classes or other programs?
A: You can sign up for memberships/classes/programs at the Business/Membership office located in the Student Recreation Center. You can sign up for Outdoor Adventures, trips/classes the Challenge Program, Sport Clubs and Arizona Intramurals at locations listed below.

Q: How can I sign up and pay for the Outdoor Adventures classes, equipment rental or trips?
A: Contact the Outdoor Adventures Office, which is located in the Student Recreation Center. The OA office is 621-8233 and is open from noon to 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. It is closed all holidays that the U of A recognizes.

Q: How do I sign up to use the Challenge Program, Ropes Course? A: Contact Richard Romero at 621-8710 to make reservations for your group, inquire about pricing, or the program. How do I sign up for Sport Clubs? Contact Sport Clubs at 621-8749

Q: Where do I go to sign up and pay for Intramurals?
A: Go to the intramurals office in the Student Recreation Center to sign up. You will then take your copy of the registration form to the Membership/Business office to pay. The phone number for Intramurals is 621-8723. The office hours are from noon to 3:30, Monday - Friday. Closed all holidays that the U of A recognizes.

Q: What methods can I use to pay?
A: Cash, Check, Am Exp, MC/Visa, Travelers Cheques,  Debit Card or Bursar's account. Payroll Deduction: for current U of A staff & faculty on Annual memberships only.

Q: How does a household member sign up for a membership?
A: Current member must accompany the prospective household member to purchase the membership at the Student Recreation Center Business/Membership office. The current member must show their CatCard, the prospective household member must show a picture ID. 

Q: As a member can I purchase a guest pass(es)?
A: Yes!
Cost: 1 day - $7, 5 days - $30, 10 days - $50

Q: How do I purchase a guest pass?
A: Go to the Pro Shop located in the Student Recreation Center - phone 621-4673. Must have Cat card. Guest must be present when purchasing card. Guest must be 18 or older. Guest must have picture ID that verifies their age.

Q: What if I am a part-time student, can I still become a member?
A: (3 hours or less in the spring/fall and 2 hours or less in the summer) Yes, you can purchase a 3/2 units or less student membership for $40 per semester plus the Program Fee. Please refer to student information. (Link)

Q: What is an Annual Plus membership?
A: An Annual Plus membership is an annual membership that includes a towel service and locker that is available to Faculty/Staff, U of A Retirees or U of A Affiliate Employees.

Q: What is the Alumni Gold membership and an Alumni Limited Silver membership?
A: An Alumni Gold membership is an annual membership (that includes a locker and towel service) with unlimited access to all the facilities, available to U of A Alumni. An Alumni Limited Silver membership is the same as an Alumni Gold except members have unlimited access to Bear Down Gym and limited access to the Student Recreation Center. Q: Who can buy a Fitness Pass?
A: Any current member of Campus Recreation Department.

Q: Who can purchase a pass to the faculty/staff fitness classes?
A: Current U of A faculty or classified staff employees. This program is subsidized by the UA Life Work Connections.

Q: Who can participate in non-credit classes?
A: Open to Campus Recreation members and non-members. Go to http://campusrec.arizona.edu/classes/ for prices.

Q: How can members obtain a locker?
A: Members can bring a lock and use a locker provided they remove the lock and all items are cleared by the end of the day.

Locker rental and towel service: $1.00 a day for a lock and towel at the SRC-the lock must be removed and all items cleared by the end of day. Locker rental and towel service are purchased at the Pro Shop located in the SRC.

The Student Recreation men's or women's locker rental and towel service fee per semester is $47 and $20 for coed.

The Student Recreation men's or women's locker rental and towel service fee is $80 for two consecutive semesters and $30 for coed.

The Student Recreation men's or women's locker rental and towel service fee is $105.00 and $45 for coed annually.

Bear Down men's or women's locker rental is $15 per semester, $25 for two consecutive semesters, and $35 annually. There no towel service available.

Membership with locker and towel service: Current employees, U of A retirees, and University Affiliate Employees can purchase an Annual Plus membership which includes a locker and towel service (see 4.0 of the membership policies for Faculty/Staff memberships and 5.0 for Affiliate memberships)

Alumni can purchase an Alumni Gold or Alumni Limited Silver membership--an annual membership that includes a locker and towel (see 7.0 of the membership policies for Alumni memberships).

Q: Can I bring my children who are minors or other minors to the facilities?
A: Yes, we offer family recreation at the Student Recreation Center on Saturdays and Sundays. Campus Recreation members can bring their family members, that are under 18 years of age. Children may have access to everything except the weight room, cardio equipment and classes. Cost: $1.00 per guest. The child/guest must be accompanied at all times by the member. See 13.2.1 of the membership policies.

Q: Can I bring my family members that are 18 years of age or older?
A: Yes, you would need to purchase a guest pass (link to guess pass question and answer). Remember you will need to accompany them to purchase the pass but not to use the guest pass. The family member(s) would need to have a picture ID to verify their age.
